Dr. Noel G. L. Hutchinson, Jr. is the Executive Mission Director for the Progressive National Baptist Convention (PNBC), and the pastor of Kingdom Fellowship Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, and was the pastor of First Baptist Church Lauderdale in Memphis, Tennessee for 22 years. A native of The Bronx, New York, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University in the areas of Sociology and American Studies, a Master of Divinity cum laude from Drew Theological School, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Trotwood, Ohio.  Dr. Hutchinson has served as an adjunct professor at Memphis Theological Seminary, the Tennessee School of Religion, and was the College Chaplain at LeMoyne-Owen College. Under his leadership, LeMoyne-Owen began a Faith in Action Community Conference in partnership with the Congress of National Black Churches, Memphis Affiliate. Dr. Hutchinson has preached nationally; and internationally in Guyana, South America; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Turin, Italy; Kigali, Rwanda, Nairobi, Kenya, and in Cape Town, South Africa with the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention.

Dr. Hutchinson has also been active in various civic and community efforts.  Some of his involvements include being a past president of the Tennessee Progressive Baptist Council. He also has served on the following boards: the Memphis NAACP, Memphis Urban League, Church and Community Investment Fund, The Church Health Center, and the Metropolitan Interfaith Association (MIFA).  He is also a 1997 graduate of Leadership Memphis. In November 2013, he became the host of “Black Thought,” airing weekdays on MUTV1, now the M1 network, Memphis’ first Black-owned television station. He is currently the host of “Huddle Talk with Dr. Hutch,” airing Wednesdays on 88.5 FM in Memphis. Dr. Hutchinson is also the author of two books, From The Shepherd’s Staff, and From The Shepherd’s Staff, The Remix: Words of Impact, Empowerment and Witness for a Challenging World.

 

He is married to Rebecca Matlock Hutchinson, a native of Memphis, Tennessee. She is a graduate of Oberlin College and the University of Memphis, earning a Master of Public Administration, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta. She is also the founder and Executive Director of SCORE CDC, a nonprofit designed to strategically implement civic engagement activities in the South City community of South Memphis at the grassroots level.
